A story with no happy ending

An incredible story of abuse took place in the USA. A 13 year-old boy faces charges for the rape of his 5year-old brother and the murder of his 2year-old brother.

The abuse history goes back many years, when the under aged defendant was growing up with his drug addict grandmother; his under aged mother would abandon him from time to time. At the age of 2 he was found naked wondering in the streets. And while the child was actually growing up with no care, his father raped him, and sometime later, his cousin molested him. The boy’s history ends with his mother’s partner beating him; his mother’s partner committed suicide before the police officers arrived.
This child faces charges for the murder of his brother and the rape of his other brother.
But twice someone had realized that the child was being abused… so did the neighbors. His personality, his behavior has been affected by all the people who abused and neglected him. Their signature is present in his actions. However, only the child is being accused today.

What if someone had intervened from the beginning, what if someone had informed the competent social services, what if the police officers had done more than their duty, what if the neighbors, relatives, friends, classmates had intervened and the child had been given the care he needed, at the right time, wouldn’t everything be different? 

The only certainty is that no child should ever face such charges. Raising a child is the parents’ responsibility, but a child’s safety concerns us all.
