Let us children celebrate this year’s Christmas differently.
This year, we decided to celebrate in a different way the Holidays and to give gifts to people and children that are in need.
We were separated in three teams and visited the nursing home for the poor in Moscato, the Oncology Hospital for Children in Attica as well as the Center for Support of the Child and Family of our Organization and they filed their own reports, spreading out a own message for love and giving. Our gift was the smiles that we received from the people we met.
“We collected gifts for the people of the nursing home and we scheduled the day of the visit. Monday morning, Christmas eve, was the day of the visit. We started out from the house and when we got there we were welcomed with joy. In the beginning it was awkward because we didn’t know how to behave but later we found the courage to approach them and to talk to them. They were very happy with the gifts we brought them and at some point we played music and we danced all together. Finally, we thanked them for giving us the chance to visit them and we promised that we would visit again in the future”, said the team that visited the nursing home – Aggeliki, Ifan, Anna, Pen, Cristo, Lena, Karolina and Armando.
“We met with the people of “The smile of the Child” that are in charge of the children’s care at hospitals and after preparing the gifts, the surprise was revealed.. WE WOULD DRESS UP AS SANTA CLAUSES. We stopped at three sections of the clinic, giving out gifts to babies, boys and girls of all ages. What stayed most in our memory, and that was our compensation too, I would say, is the children’s bright smiles on their faces when we entered their rooms, the joy they got when we were giving them their gifts. Those children, to which life showed them its bad side, in their struggle, filled us with the warmest smiles that a human could give to another human. We had such a nice time that we discussed the probability of our coming next year too. We will be talking about it for a while, that this Christmas eve was the best of our lives”, said Dimitris and Noa that visited the Oncology Hospital for Children in Attica.
“We helped in organizing the storage area, where he had collected food and toys that were sent by people that support us and we helped in giving food to people that are in need and to children that don’t have the basics. It was a special day that we will remember forever” said the team of Aggelos, Aggelos, Argyris, Panagiotis and Alekos that visited the Center for Support of the Child and Family in Ilion.
