I want to leave home
“My name is Electra. I’m 15 years old, a 3rd grade high school student. Until 2 months ago I thought I had the perfect family. I used to play with my little brother, have friendly conversations with my mum and watch movies with my dad. Everything seemed perfect!”
“It’s been a long time now that my parents fight a lot during the nights and after a while this has become our everyday routine. They started fighting in front of my brother and me.I was really disappointed, I couldn’t study for my exams and whenever I was there the only thing that I could listen to were my parents shouting. I couldn’t focus on studying…”
“My final mark for the 3rd grade was 14, while I used to be a student of 17.Besides that, I also had to deal with the negative comments of my dad ,‘you disappointed me, I didn’t expect you to have so bad grades.”
“That was it… I am going to leave home and get away from all . I don't want to toburden my grandmother with my presence. I am sure my friends wont understand me not to mention that I feel embarrassed to explain to them what is going on with my family.”
With all the money that I had, I ran away with my little brother and we took a bus to the nearest provincial city. When we arrived there I convinced the hotel owner to provide us with a room by telling a batch of lies.
When the night fell and my little brother fell asleep I started to panic. What am I going to do from now on? How many lies should I tell tomorrow? And what will happen when I run out of money? I leaned towards him to hold him and I realized that he had high fever and I couldn’t wake him up. I immediately called my mum crying and I explained to her what was going on…
She answered to me “we are arriving immediately my sweetheart”.
Smile tip: Don’t “run away ” from your problems. Face them so that they cannot follow you.
